Attorney, Member of the Firm
Pete Macleod, a technology lawyer for over 20 years, works primarily with companies in the healthcare, education and media spaces, handling issues related to software licensing (including enterprise licensing, ASP and SaaS), data privacy, outsourcing and Intellectual Property.
Prior to joining Outside GC, Pete worked for over nine years in the legal department of The Advisory Board Company, a company that uses a combination of research, technology, and consulting to improve the performance of health care organizations around the world. His roles included serving as Deputy General Counsel, where he was responsible for leading a team of over 20 lawyers and other professionals providing support to the company on their commercial matters, including client facing arrangements, partnerships, and vendor engagements. As such, he gained a deep knowledge and experience in complex SaaS and other licensing arrangements, data agreements, consulting engagements and other commercial arrangements. Pete was also involved in advising on strategic partnerships and mergers and acquisitions.
Before the Advisory Board, Pete was a transactional attorney at Arent Fox in Washington DC, and in-house counsel for Discovery Communications, where he was a Vice President and ran the legal department for Discovery’s Education-focused business unit.
Pete graduated from Cambridge University, and received his JD from Boston College Law School where he was Editor in Chief of the Law Review. He is originally from the United Kingdom, and has lived in the Washington DC area for over 18 years. Pete enjoys running (a couple of races per year) and getting out in the countryside for long walks and hikes.
