Patrick Reutens joined Outside GC in 2021 with 30 years of legal and business experience representing public and private companies within the technology sector. He has led the legal department in five Silicon Valley companies operating in the semiconductor, high-speed connectivity, mobile and content distribution sectors, including as Chief Legal Officer for Keyssa, Atmel and Silicon Image. He was also an executive with Immersion and Preview Systems. In his first in-house role, Patrick served as the Director of Licensing at MIPS Technologies. He started his legal career as a technology transactions lawyer at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati and the Venture Law Group, where he worked with a wide range of hardware, software, multimedia, biotech and medical device companies.
Patrick's focus is on helping companies accomplish their business and strategic objectives, based on a deep understanding of their business models, products, competitors, and target markets. He has extensive experience with a wide range of commercial, corporate, and financing transactions. He has worked on many complex cross-border transactions and supported subsidiaries and global business operations throughout Europe and Asia. In addition, Patrick has built and managed multiple corporate patent portfolios, and has successfully managed commercial, securities, intellectual property, and labor litigation.
Patrick holds a J.D. from Yale Law School, a Ph.D in Physics from the University of Chicago and a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the California Bar and the U.S. Patent Bar. He lives with his family in the San Francisco Bay Area.
