Mike is a broad-based attorney with over 20 years of experience representing emerging businesses, major corporations, and individual entrepreneurs. Strategic and practical, he strives to find common sense and business-oriented solutions for his clients. Mike focuses on commercial transactions, licensing of intellectual property, software and technology deals, product distribution, vendor services, advertising, marketing, social media, sponsorships, endorsements, and agency relationships. His experience spans several industries, including consumer goods, SaaS/PaaS, ad-tech, digital gaming, e-commerce, retail, food service, and arts/entertainment. Mike joined Outside GC in 2019.

Mike recently served as Vice President of Legal at Hasbro, Inc., an international consumer products and branded entertainment company. As a senior leader in the legal department, he advised top executives and business managers throughout the corporation. He was in charge of transactional, marketing and FTC regulatory affairs for many of the company’s iconic brands and product lines, and he managed relationships and deals with the world’s largest conglomerates and intellectual property owners. During his tenure, he served as lead counsel to the company’s technology and inventions team, engineering and design department, production studio, packaging unit, corporate communications group, operations division, and other business areas.

Mike was also in private practice prior to joining Outside GC, most notably at Boston-area firms Gadsby Hannah (now McCarter & English) and O’Connor, Broude & Aronson (a prominent firm in Boston’s suburban technology corridor).  He worked with both startups and established companies, while managing mergers & acquisitions, private and public offerings, strategic partnerships, corporate governance activities, regulatory matters, and a variety of commercial and licensing transactions.  He started his legal career as a Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Maxwell Heiman in the Connecticut Appellate Court, researching legal precedent and drafting judicial opinions.

Mike attended Columbia University in New York City, where he obtained his B.A. in History and graduated magna cum laude. He earned his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating with honors and serving as editor of the Connecticut Law Review.

When not practicing law, Mike enjoys reading history and fiction (yes, legal thrillers), as well as mountain biking, fishing, and traveling with his family. He and his wife spend countless hours watching their two sons wrestle (for the high school team and at home). Mike has been a proud New England Patriots season ticket holder for many years, and loves to tailgate hours before game time. He is also a mentor at the MIT Enterprise Forum, where he helps startups bring their ideas to life.
