Michael Ward has over 25 years of executive and legal experience in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and technology industries, including roles with corporate responsibility for business development, compliance, legal and operational matters. In addition to his senior-level counsel positions, Michael has served as President of a pharmaceutical services subsidiary and VP of Corporate Development for a Fortune 200 company, enabling him to provide practical, business-centric legal advice to his clients and colleagues.
Most recently, Michael served as Chief Compliance & Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for Sagent Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:SGNT), a global specialty generic pharmaceutical company, and handled its sale to Nichi-Iko Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. for $736 Million. Prior to Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Michael was Vice President, Assistant General Counsel of Global Compliance, Ethics & Litigation and Chief Privacy Officer at CDK Global (NYSE:CDK), Vice President and Chief Litigation & Risk Counsel at ACCO Brands Corporation (NYSE:ACCO), and the General Counsel for the Kensington Technology division of ACCO Brands. Previously, Michael was Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for Targus Group International, and held numerous legal and executive roles over a decade with Bergen Brunswig Corporation and AmerisourceBergen Corporation.
Michael brings considerable expertise in both global and U.S. commercial transactions, compliance, corporate matters, employment, governance, litigation management, and M&A matters. He also has experience developing policies and conducting training programs for anti-corruption, antitrust, CMS, competition, ethics, FDA, fraud & abuse, governance, privacy and other regulatory matters for employees and suppliers across Asia, Europe and North America.
Michael has regularly contributed to the legal profession by speaking at annual meetings for the American Bar Association and Association of Corporate Counsel, as well as serving as a panelist for smaller legal organizations.
Michael graduated from Albion College and Case Western Reserve University Law School.
Michael resides in South Orange County. His wife is a USC graduate and works as a CPA. They have two teenage children: a daughter who will attend the University of San Diego as an Alcala Scholar, and a son in high school who is already a much better distance runner than his father, though Michael intends to repeat as champion in the Catalina Island Marathon for its Super Buffalo category before the end of this decade.
