Larry Kranseler joined Outside GC in 2011, having last served as Vice President of Legal at Hasbro, Inc. Larry brings an innovative, business-centric approach to problem solving, as well as a proven track record of successful commercial negotiations resulting in significant corporate revenue.
Working with both public and private companies at various stages of development and across a range of industries, Larry focuses his practice on transactional work and general business representation, including the negotiation of licensing, distributor and other strategic relationships, advising on startup/venture issues, and general business counseling to senior executives. He also has extensive experience dealing with consumer product issues. Larry’s clients include A.T. Cross Company, Bulger Partners, Reebok International, Jamber, Bradford Soap International, Market Force Information, M2 the agency, and Fuzzytails by Lisa McCue.
Over the course of his 21-year career at Hasbro, Larry handled a wide variety of legal and business issues facing a multi-billion-dollar enterprise, approaching them from the perspective of both a senior executive and business-oriented attorney. Larry was instrumental in negotiating and managing Hasbro’s strategic relationships with large scale partners such as LucasFilm, Marvel and Sesame Workshop; he also negotiated and managed numerous other key licensing and entertainment-based agreements. In addition to advising on operational and strategic matters, Larry managed Hasbro’s intellectual property and litigation matters. He also created the company’s original corporate ethics code of conduct, and at various times, was responsible for several corporate/finance and product divisions.
Prior to joining Hasbro, Larry spent his early career at Hale and Dorr (now Wilmer Hale), a large Boston-based national law firm. He represented clients in mergers and acquisitions, syndications and other corporate transactions, and provided general and transactional representation of small and medium sized companies and venture capital firms.
Larry is a Summa Cum Laude graduate in Economics from the School of Management at Boston College where he received the James E. Shaw Memorial Award, given to the school’s top graduating student admitted to law school. He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and, simultaneously, earned his M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School of Business.
Larry served as the long-term Treasurer, Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board of Directors member of a Jewish Big Brother Big Sister organization. He also served as a big brother in the same organization for several years. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and, subsequently, Supporters Council of the Children’s Advertising Review Unit of the Council of Better Business Bureau, a self-regulatory agency for advertising to children. He has been a coordinator of youth basketball programs in his hometown and has also coached various youth baseball, softball, basketball and soccer teams.
Larry grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts and currently lives in Sharon, Massachusetts with his wife and three children. He enjoys playing golf and tennis and traveling with his family, as well as rooting on all of the Boston professional sports teams.
