Don is a senior corporate and transactional technology lawyer with deep experience in the Internet/e-commerce, SaaS, communications (wireless and satellite), semiconductor, software, mobile device, market research, and entertainment/media sectors. Don also has extensive international and cross-border experience, having worked as an attorney in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. As a former legal executive and business strategist, Don can help refine the big picture strategy while identifying key legal issues, whether he is working with multinationals or start-ups.

Before going in-house, Don was a partner at McCutchen Doyle (now Morgan Lewis) and Co-Chair of its Silicon Valley Technology Transactions Group; and previously, he was an attorney with Weil Gotshal & Manges in its Silicon Valley, Washington DC, and Central European offices. Don also ran IBM Microelectronics’ Broadband Business Unit; served as Head of Corporate Development for Panasonic Avionics; and earlier, worked for Panasonic at its headquarters in Osaka, Japan, where he was responsible for structuring and negotiating international joint ventures, technology licensing, and investments, acquisitions, and divestitures. In the early 1990s, Don formed the American Enterprise Funds for the U.S. State Department and lived in Budapest, Hungary, where he negotiated and structured equity and debt financings for ventures doing business in Central Europe. Following law school, Don clerked for a federal judge in Washington, D.C.

Don earned his law degree, with honors, from the George Washington University School of Law, where he served as managing editor of the George Washington University Law Review. Don also earned a Master’s Degree in Political Science, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree, with honors and with distinction, in both Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Don also completed executive education programs at Harvard Law School and at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Don is admitted to the State Bar of California, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Don resides in North County San Diego and is able to travel where and when needed. Don began racing bicycles at university and when not working, he can usually be found cycling through beautiful San Diego County.
