Prior to establishing her own practice, Deborah spent almost 15 years working in-house in the fashion industry, protecting and enhancing some of the world’s most prominent fashion and luxury brands. Deborah served as Associate General Counsel at Nine West Group when the women’s shoe company had over 1,000 retail stores and produced shoes and accessories for over 20 owned and licensed brands. Next, she went on to serve as General Counsel for Candie’s, Inc. and later, Iconix Brand Group, where Deborah led a team that negotiated and implemented a wide range of strategic expansion arrangements for 30 fashion, accessory, jewelry and home brands. She helped support the creation of an innovative retail-direct structure that has become the gold standard for prominent retailers such as Target, Wal-Mart, Kohl’s and Macy’s. From her years working to protect the intellectual property relating to products across every price point from value to luxury, Deborah has deep commercial transactional experience in structuring manufacturing, supply, distribution, sale and marketing arrangements both domestically and internationally. More recently, she served as external General Counsel for Next Retail Concepts, where she helped support a SaaS-based technology platform offering virtual immersive brand and shopping experiences.
