David Oh joined Outside GC in 2019, bringing 20 years of experience working with public and private companies in corporate and securities law. He has worked with public and private companies at various stages of development, across a range of industries, including hardware, software, biotechnology and pharma companies.
David started his legal career as an attorney at Cooley LLP in Palo Alto, advising start-up and emerging companies on entity formation, debt and equity financings, merger and acquisition transactions, corporate governance, and compensation and equity arrangements. He has held legal executive positions at Volterra Semiconductor Corporation, a publicly traded semiconductor company, Roku, Inc., a publicly traded entertainment streaming software platform and most recently at Alector, Inc., a publicly traded biotechnology company. At Roku and at Alector, David helped drive the initial public offerings of those companies, as during his in-house career he has had primary responsibilities for equity and debt transactions, merger and acquisition transactions, board and executive governance matters, employment counseling, compensation issues, compliance activities and general commercial and strategic agreements.
David holds a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration degree from Santa Clara University, graduating cum laude from the school of law. He is registered as a patent agent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and he holds his BA degree in English Literature from UCLA.
