Ukraine Designated for Temporary Protected Status

Ukraine Designated for Temporary Protected Status

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) has designated Ukraine for Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”) in response to the Russian invasion and resultant humanitarian crisis. TPS provides eligible individuals with permission to remain and work in the United States for the duration of the designation. Although the current Ukraine designation is only 18 months, DHS may eventually elect to extend it should country conditions warrant.

Please note that only Ukrainians who have resided in the U.S. since March 1, 2022 will be eligible to apply. Individuals who arrived in the U.S. at a later date will be ineligible.

DHS will provide further information about the TPS application process once the designation is published in the Federal Register.
