The California Department of Public Health recently released detailed guidance for employers who are trying to understand their obligations during the coronavirus pandemic. The COVID-19 Employer Playbook for a Safe Reopening is intended to help businesses plan and prepare to reopen safely and mitigate the risks for workers and customers.
The Employer Playbook provides detailed information on how to:
- manage an outbreak,
- prevent further spread of COVID-19 in the workplace,
- properly clean the workplace, and
- comply with various workplace obligations, including Cal/OSHA reporting, paid sick leave, job-protected leave, disability insurance and paid family leave, and workers’ compensation.
The Playbook also gathers links and resources from various state agencies and the Centers for Disease Control in one place, making it easy to find authoritative guidance on complex COVID-19 topics. Non-California employers may also find it useful as a structured guide for business planning.
