Lew has extensive and varied experience as a business lawyer and as a senior business executive responsible for the management of a major Connecticut industrial corporation. Lew’s legal practice has focused on business entity formations, acquisitions and divestitures, complex contract negotiation and drafting, corporate and commercial financing, and strategic advice to senior corporate management teams and boards of directors. In the course of his long career, Lew has encountered an array of legal, business, personal, and public issues of such diversity that has made him a “go-to” lawyer on matters ranging from defense against preference avoidance claims in bankruptcy to multi-party business reorganizations to pro bono reconciliation of estranged family members. The radical disruption of the U.S. and world economies has led unfortunately, but inevitably, to an increase in business bankruptcies. Lew gives tactical and strategic advice to Outside GC clients concerned about potential bankruptcy filings by their customers or clients.
While at law school in New Haven, he met and married Shirley. They are parents of two adult children, a son-in-law and two absolutely beautiful and brilliant grandchildren. Lew’s first novel – about a lawyer and a law firm – was published in 2016. A second novel (not about a lawyer) with the intriguing title of The Brief and Glorious Reign of King Frederick the Brave, was published in 2020. Lew and Shirley have traveled extensively in search of adventure and, when they were a bit younger, mountains to climb in the Swiss and French Alps, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and the Canadian and Colorado Rockies.
