Adam Aiken brings 19 years of in-house legal experience to Outside GC with a deep background in Healthcare technology, including digital health, telehealth, medical device, cloud computing environments, software licensing and commercial transactions. In working with clients, Adam believes that understanding their vision and goals helps drive a successful legal strategy.
Prior to joining Outside GC, Adam was most recently Senior Legal Counsel and Business Officer with Pegasystems in Cambridge, MA. Pegasystems develops software for customer relationship management, digital process automation, and business process management.
Prior to Pegasystems, Adam was Principal Counsel and Compliance Officer for Onduo, LLC. Onduo is a virtual care company that leverages connected devices, deep analytics and specialty clinical care to provide lifestyle and clinical interventions. As the head of the legal department at Onduo, Adam worked to build the legal and compliance function within the company. This included counseling the leadership team on issues involving 50 state telemedicine regulations, patient/provider interactions via synchronous or asynchronous means, compliance with Medicare/Medicaid regulations (fraud and abuse and anti-kickback rules), creation and operation of the “friendly PC business model,” rules and regulations around 50 state durable medical equipment distribution, and clinical operations.
Before joining Onduo, Adam spent 8 years with Philips Healthcare as Head of Legal for Healthcare Informatics, Precision Medicine and Population Health Management. These business units within Philips were heavily involved in technology ranging from clinical software to medical devices, including remote monitoring devices and imaging systems. While at Philips, Adam also worked extensively in the patient monitoring business units on numerous issues related to medical devices.
Prior to joining Philips, Adam was in-house counsel with Allscripts for 8 years. Allscripts is a publicly traded US company that provides physician practices, hospitals, and other healthcare providers with electronic health record and practice management software. At Allscripts, Adam gained extensive experience with commercial agreements and with legal issues related to new product launches. In addition to Adam’s commercial work at Allscripts, he was also head of litigation and intellectual property management.

Adam began his legal career at Lerner, David, Littenberg, Krumholz and Mentlik working on trademark, trade dress and patent litigation. Adam graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a B.A. in Political Science and from the University of New Hampshire School of Law with a J.D.
When not working, Adam loves to spend time with his family, traveling and playing golf. He also is a volunteer mediator at the Woburn District Court.
