Kari brings a practical approach combined with a keen business sense to her legal practice. Kari was previously in-house with Nelnet, Inc. (NYSE: NNI) a leader in the education finance and student loan servicing industry. While at Nelnet, Kari handled the legal aspects of software licensing, online commerce, technology, intellectual property, employment matters and corporate governance for 5280 Solutions LLC, a wholly-owned technology subsidiary of Nelnet. She also participated on the executive management team at 5280 Solutions which incubates new tech-based lines of business, develops and licenses software and provides IT consulting services. Prior to joining Nelnet, Kari was in-house at IBM in San Jose, California where she handled all legal matters for various software development teams, helped acquire and integrate several companies into IBM and handled various intellectual property asset acquisitions and divestitures. Before moving in-house, Kari was an associate in the Palo Alto office of Mayer Brown where her practice focused on corporate and business law. Kari started her legal career at a premier German law firm in Cologne Germany after spending a year studying German and European law with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) International Lawyers Program. She attended law school at Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, California and graduated with a B.A. in international relations and French from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
