Michael joined the firm in 2011, having last served as Division Counsel of Hewlett-Packard Company’s Emerging Businesses Unit.  Michael’s practice has focused primarily on technology-related transactional work, including IT and business process outsourcing, software licensing and development, professional services and consulting, strategic alliances and joint ventures, as well as manufacturing, procurement and distribution. He also has experience with e-commerce and social media. 

At HP, Michael initially specialized in outsourcing transactions.  Later, as Division Counsel to HP’s Emerging Businesses Unit, he was involved in the development, manufacturing and distribution of mobile computing devices including smart phones and tablet and netbook computers as well as other cutting edge hardware, software and service offerings.  Prior to moving in-house at HP, Michael was an associate at Mayer Brown and Latham & Watkins in Chicago where his clients included Motorola, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Cinergy, United Airlines, Aon, Kemper, Sears, Ondeo Nalco and Andersen Consulting.  Before becoming an attorney, Michael spent nearly eight years as an officer and pilot in the United States Navy.  Michael earned his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago in 1998, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1987.

Michael is a member of Congressman Steve Israel’s veteran’s affairs and service academy selection committees and serves on the board of directors of Operation Homelink, a non-for-profit company focused on keeping deployed service men and women in touch with their loved ones.  He owns several businesses, including e-commerce ventures.  Michael lives in Huntington, New York where he enjoys an active lifestyle that includes biking, boating, running, hiking, canoeing and playing the bass in an alternative rock band.
