Trained at one of the nation's top law firms (Simpson Thacher & Bartlett), Matthew has spent the past two decades working in-house as a transactional attorney for Sony Music, The New York Public Library, Time Warner Cable, and Hudson's Bay Company. In these positions, Matthew worked closely with clients to structure and negotiate a broad range of complex transactions, including inbound and outbound content licenses, software licenses, IT agreements, partnership agreements, distribution agreements, consulting services contracts, and vendor contracts. He has also provided advice and guidance in the areas of data security and privacy.
Matthew is a skilled negotiator who excels at using clear, concise language to draft even the most complex concepts. In addition, he is a strategic problem solver who understands that being an effective lawyer means helping clients achieve their business objectives in the most efficient manner possible.
Matthew received degrees from Stanford Law School, Princeton University (MA in Romance Languages), and Dartmouth College (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa). He lives in New York City, where he spends his free time going to museums, reading, and writing fiction. His book Outside Is the Ocean won the 2017 Iowa Short Fiction Award.
