Jon Levitt has been Principal and a Managing Member of Outside GC since its founding in 2002.

Jon has served as general counsel to both public and private companies in the US and the UK, and has also been responsible for managing finance, HR, IT and administrative functions for his clients. This broad legal and business experience has enabled to Jon to offer his clients highly practical legal and business counsel. Jon's practice is focused primarily on venture-backed technology companies, especially those in the enterprise software space. Jon's clients include Desktone, Aveksa and Luminus Devices.

Before co-founding Outside GC, Jon was Vice President and General Counsel for Quadstone, a Scottish-based CRM analytics vendor. At Quadstone, Jon was responsible for all of the corporation's legal affairs in both the US and the UK, and also managed the corporation's US-based finance, HR, IT, facilities and administrative functions and employees. Before joining Quadstone, Jon was Vice President and General Counsel for Inso Corporation (later eBT International, NASDAQ:EBTI), an international enterprise software company. While at Inso, Jon handled multiple domestic and international business acquisitions and divestitures, oversaw the settlement of two class action shareholder lawsuits, managed a formal Securities and Exchange Commission inquiry, and developed a web-based contracts process that allowed the legal department to efficiently draft and negotiate over one hundred license agreements per quarter. Jon began his legal career in private practice, first at Mintz Levin, where he worked primarily on large corporate transactions, and then at Lucash Gesmer & Updegrove, where he focused on intellectual property and software licensing.

Jon is a graduate of Northwestern University and Northeastern University School of Law.

Jon is involved in a leadership role on community and non-profit boards and committees, including the Board of the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, coaches youth sports, and is a member of the Boston chapter of EO, an international organization of entrepreneurs.

Jon grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, where he attended Classical High School.

Jon lives in Sharon, Massachusetts with his wife and four children. In his spare time he is honing his skills for a slot on The Next Food Network Star.
