Paul Cimino joined Outside GC in 2015, bringing over 15 years of in-house legal experience at companies (public and private, for-profit and non-profit) in the software, technology and manufacturing industries. Paul’s broad and deep business experience enables him to provide sound, ethical strategic counsel, as well as day-to-day advice, for the Board, C-Suite and throughout the enterprise. Paul handles a wide range of legal matters, including the negotiation and drafting of complex contracts, such as enterprise software and technology licensing; employment and Human Resources policy and counseling; management of litigation and dispute resolution; intellectual property management; entity formation and board governance; and commercial real estate arrangements. Paul’s clients at Outside GC include ModusLink Corporation, Civiq Smartscapes, Superpedestrian, and Gateway Professional Network.
Prior to joining Outside GC, Paul was Vice President and General Counsel at Conservation Services Group, the non-profit national leader in residential energy efficiency and renewable energy programming for large utilities and public agencies, where he had overall responsibility for CSG’s corporate Legal function, and helped lead CSG through its successful asset sale at a significant price premium in July 2015.
Before CSG, Paul was General Counsel at Akibia, Inc. (acquired by Zensar Technologies of Pune, India in 2010), a leading provider of products and services supporting the IT infrastructure of large enterprises around the world. Previous to that, Paul was Assistant General Counsel at Aspen Technology, Inc., a publicly-traded developer and supplier of software for the process industries (i.e., petroleum, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals), and Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), a provider of technology solutions that transform the way companies create, operate and service their products.
Paul began his legal career at the Boston law firm of Goulston & Storrs, P.C. He received his law degree cum laude from the University of Michigan, and is admitted in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and New York. Paul holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and is a former officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
When not working to help companies grow and prosper, Paul spends time outdoors whenever possible, listens to all kinds of music (former college DJ), and enjoys reading and retaining lots of obscure nonfiction in order to maintain his edge over you at bar trivia.
