Lisa joined Outside GC in 2011, and has over 20 years of experience as an attorney. Lisa primarily represents private companies in the technology sector. She has counseled companies on a wide variety of legal matters, focusing on day-to-day business, operational and contractual matters as well as strategic matters.
She has extensive software licensing and SaaS experience. Lisa also has significant experience with international operations and technology transactions in Europe. Lisa’s clients include Axiomatics AB, Workable Software and Palette Software.
Lisa’s most recent in-house role was as lead counsel of Spotfire, Inc., an early visual interactive analytics software company with operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific. As the first in-house lawyer at Spotfire, Lisa developed and managed all legal functions of the privately-held company until it was sold to TIBCO Software Inc. Before that, Lisa was lead counsel of FairMarket, Inc., an early provider of e-business selling and marketing solutions on a SaaS basis, with operations in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Also the first in-house lawyer at FairMarket, Lisa prepared the company for its IPO and developed and managed all legal functions of the company until it was sold to eBay Inc. Lisa began her in-house career as part of the legal team at FTP Software, Inc., one of the first providers of software products designed to operate across the Internet. At FTP, Lisa was responsible for all corporate and securities matters and mergers and acquisitions, as well as for corporate and HR matters for the company’s operations in Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific, until the company was acquired by NetManage, Inc.
Lisa began her legal career as a corporate, securities and M&A lawyer, first with Thorp, Reed & Armstrong in Pittsburgh, PA, and then with Vinson & Elkins L.L.P. in Dallas, TX.
Lisa graduated with honors from both Amherst College and Boston College Law School.
Lisa grew up in southern Connecticut and also lived in Washington D.C., Heidelberg, Germany, Pittsburgh and Dallas before returning to her original home town of Newton, Massachusetts.
When she is not in front of her computer, Lisa spends much of her time surrounded by dogs, either her own or those at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, where she has served as a volunteer since 2007.
