Beth Potthoff brings more than 25 years of combined legal and business leadership to the clients of Outside GC. Beth has served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary to various public and private companies in the technology and biotechnology sectors. As such, she has had complete responsibility for all corporate legal matters including corporate governance, securities law compliance, litigation management and intellectual property protection. Her extensive experience in negotiating complex strategic relationships includes collaboration and licensing agreements as well as mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Outside GC, Beth was a member of the senior management team at Curis, Inc., a public biotechnology company. While at Curis, Beth negotiated licensing agreements with collaborators that included Wyeth, Genentech, Johnson & Johnson and Proctor & Gamble. Before Curis, Beth was the fifth employee of Wheelhouse, Inc., a private company provider of internet-based, customer relationship management software. Her other public-company positions included Shiva Corporation, a pioneer in the development of remote access technology. At Shiva, she managed the legal aspects of the company's successful initial public offering and the acquisition of Spider Systems and Airsoft Corporation as well as Shiva's merger with Intel. Prior to its acquisition by Network Systems, Beth also served as General Counsel to Bytex Corporation, a public company supplier of local and wide-area networking products. Before commencing her career as a corporate legal generalist, Beth worked as a senior international tax attorney at Wang Laboratories, Inc. where she supported offshore operations in Taiwan, Puerto Rico and Ireland. During law school, she worked as a tax law consultant at Ernst & Whinney (Ernst & Young) and as a law clerk with the Antitrust Division of the Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General. She earned an M.B.A. during the tenure of her earlier business career, which included finance and manufacturing support positions at Raytheon Company and General Dynamics Corporation. Beth earned her B.A. from the State University of New York, an M.B.A. from Providence College and J.D. (cum laude) from Suffolk University. She is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
